Time:2012-11-09
On the afternoon of Nov.7th, Symposium on Chinese employer-employee matched data survey project was held in School of Labor and Human Resources of RUC. The meeting mainly discussed “how to use the matching data to do research?” and “how to carry out the second pilot study and following tasks.”

Firstly, Prof. Ding Dajian reviewed and introduced the start-up of employer-employee matched data survey and the implementation of the second pilot survey.

Afterwards, assistant professor, Zhao LiQiu from Department of Labor Economics introduced the research carried out by foreign counterparts in the area of employer-employee matched data. Compared to the data on traditional individual (family) level and enterprise level, she found that employer-employee matched data provides a more complete picture of the supply and demand of the labor market. Through the use of a panel matched data, researchers can get a more unbiased estimate since it controlled unobserved heterogeneity of workers and businesses.

Then, project member Li Xiaoman introduced the report “data analysis report of the first pilot survey -- are your employees satisfied?’

Later, Prof. Zeng Xiangquan, Cheng Yanyuan, Li Lilin, Han Keqin, Xu Shiyong, Ge Yuhao, Wu Qingjun, Geng Lin, Guan Yanjuna, Zhang Hao, Zhang Wei and other participant teachers had a heated and constructive discussions on the above two thematic reports.

At the end of the meeting, Dean Zeng Xiangquan gave a few comments about the progress of the project. He fully affirmed the theoretical and practical significance of the research and advised to establish a regular exchange mechanism of the project. Meanwhile, he encouraged project team members and faculty to share data and to fully dig the value of the survey data in order to make innovative research results.
