Dean Zeng Xiangquan delivers a speech at the Second Global Deans Meeting in Labor Sciences

On July 2, 2012, 4:00 pm of local time, the Second Global Deans Meeting in Labor Sciences was held in Philadelphia, USA. The forum was an important part of the 2012 World Conference of International Labor and Employment Relations Association. Deans and relevant persons in charge of 26 Labor Science colleges from the United States, Britain, Canada, Spain, Australia, Turkey, Colombia, India, Philippines, Italy, Poland, China and other countries attended the forum.
Professor Zeng Xiangquan (Dean of School of Labor and Human Resources of Renmin University of China), Professor Paul Marginson (Director of the Industrial Relations Institute of the University of Warwick, UK) and Professor Paul Clark (Head of the Department of labor Studies and Employment Relationship of Pennsylvania State University) delivered keynote speeches. Professor Harry Katz, Dean of School of Industrial and labor Relations of Cornell University, chaired the forum.

The title of the English speech of Professor Zeng Xiangquan was "labor science in China: Innovation and Development". The lecture was divided into three parts: First, it put forward the scientific concept of labor science to create new advantages. Through reviewing the difficulties in the development of national industrial relations, Professor Zeng pointed out that solving the labor market problems needs multi-disciplinary cooperation, multi-angle analysis, and removal of limitations and biases. Professor Zeng then put forward the scientific concept of labor science which may be useful to create new advantages of the Labor Science. Second, the lecture talked about establishing the 'three major platforms' and training the personnel of the labor scientific disciplines. Professor Zeng introduced the innovations of School of Labor and Human Resources of Renmin University of China in personnel training and he pointed out that “break the boundaries and highlight abilities”. By creating a "shared platform", "data platform" and "simulation platform", to enhance the internationalization of the college students and greatly enhance the students' research skills and practical operating capacity. Third, the lecture announced that by the the 30-year Anniversary of the School of Labor and Human Resources, School of Labor and Human Resources (RUC) is to organize the Third Global Labor Science Dean forum. Professor Zeng recalled the first global Labor Science Dean Forum successfully organized by the School of Labor and Human Resources of Renmin University of China in June 2010 and its landmark achievement, "Beijing Declaration". Professor Zeng briefed the participants that the School of Labor and Human Resources would hold the Third Global Labor Science Dean Forum by the Thirty Years Anniversary and he also suggested the subject to discuss. Professor Zeng issued invitations to Deans and relevant persons for the third forum in 2013.

After his speech, Professor Zeng answered questions and had lively discussion with the participants.
