The Twelfth Biweekly Academic Forum of Labor Economics

At 16:00 pm on November 25, 2009, the Twelfth Biweekly Academic Forum of Labor Economics organized by School of Labor and Human Resources of RUC was successfully held. The speaker of this forum was Dr. Chen Yaobo, who is from College of Public Service of De Paul University. The topic is Does Corporate Social Responsibility Code of Conduct Make a Difference on Labor Conditions? A Case Study of Toy Manufacturing Industry in China. The forum was presided over by Professor Zhao Zhong, senior researcher of CIER. Professor Zeng Xiangquan, Head of CIER, Professor Tang Kuang, Deputy Director of CIER, Assistant Researcher Xiong Tongcheng, Wu Qiang, other teachers and students of the School of Labor and Human Resources attended the forum and discussed Professor Chen’s speech.

Professor Chen now teaches in College of Public Service of De Paul University. He received doctorate from Columbia University and is a researcher of IZA. His research areas mainly focus on: development economics, institutional economics, labor migration and urbanization and so on. He particularly concerns about labor market institutions and labor policies, as well as the effect of globalization on labor migration and labor relations. Professor Chen has cooperated with domestic scholars many times, and his articles were published several times in the Economic Development and Cultural Change and other international periodicals.
