Survey and Analysis Report of College Graduates' Employability (2009)

On the morning of Oct 29th, 2009, the releasing conference of the "Survey and Analysis Report of College Graduates' Employability (2009)" was held in Beijing Yongtaifupeng Sheraton Hotel. It is co-hosted by China Institute for Employment Research of Renmin University of China, Haidian Talent Service Center and Zhongguancun Talent Market. Ren Jianxin,Vice Inspector of Beijing Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Zang Guiwu, Vice Director of Haidian District, Zeng Xiangquan, Dean of the School of Labor and Human Resources of RUC, Head of CIER, and related leaders of Haidian Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, and representatives from colleges and enterprises attended the conference.

Zeng Xiangquan, Dean of the School of Labor and Human Resources of RUC, Head of China Institute for Employment Research, expressed his views on the worth and major findings of the research, outstanding problems China college students facing in the course of searching for a job, and policy recommendations, etc. He specifically pointed out that no matter which it featured, research or coursework, colleges should highlight the development of abilities of different types, set up clear educational objectives, combine practices into education, keep on upgrading and improving the content of education, improve employability of the students with great efforts and narrow the gap of ability, thus alleviating China college students' employment problems fundamentally.     

Zhang Xiaochu, Director of Haidian Talent Service Center and Zhongguancun Talent Market, released the Survey and Analysis Report of College Graduates' Employability (2009) on behalf of the research group. The report included eight parts: college graduates' employment in Haidian District, employment situation of college students graduating in 2009, judgment and analysis of college students' employment problems, construction of college students' employability model according to employers' demand, comparative analysis of the level of demand from employers for college students' employability, comparative analysis of college students' employability lag, analysis of differences in college students' employability cognitive and related policy suggestion. The report specifically studied and analyzed in depth heated problems widely concerned by the public such as college students' employment, employment advantages and disadvantages of college students just graduating from schools, exiting problems in the education of college students and college students' employment policy cognitive, etc. 

Representatives from colleges and enterprises made remarks and highly praised the report. It was agreed that as this year the number of college graduates was again record-breaking large and college students' employment problem got much attention, the report provided timely and valuable reference for colleges' career guidance, college students' employment and enterprises' recruitment.

Leaders of the government of Haidian District and Beijing Human Resources and Social Security Bureau highly evaluated the model of cooperation of China Institute for Employment Research of RUC and the Talent institute in Haidian and the research results, expressed their intention to make full use of the results of the college students' employability investigation, through improving measures and systems, widening channels and strengthening guidance, etc, solving the problem of college students' employment, and hoped the essence of the promotion of college students' employment of the Party's Central Committee and the committees of the city and the district would be well comprehended and various forces would combined into one, helping more college students obtain employment, realizing the deployment of regional resources as a whole and social and economic harmonious development.

From 2006 till now, China Institute for Employment Research has cooperated with Beijing Haidian Talent Service Center and Zhongguancun Talent Market in the last three years to conduct compensation survey of graduates obtaining employment in Zhongguancun Haidian Garden IT enterprises, resulting in three compensation survey reports of new graduates in Zhongguancun Haidian Garden IT Enterprises, and in 2009 started and successfully completed this survey and analysis report of college graduates' employability. This report will help Zhongguancun Haidian Garden IT Enterprises grasp the compensation situation of the market more promptly to attract and retain talents, and guide graduates to set up appropriate employment concepts and promote full employment of college graduates, and simultaneously push colleges to deliver more comprehensive and effective career guidance greatly, and back the government's decision for implementation of talents-power-the-district strategy and the realization of the deployment of regional resources as a whole and social and economic harmonious development.
