"The First Chinese Labor Science Doctors’ Forum” sponsored by school of Labor and Human Resource in Renmin University was held successfully on the second hall of Shaw conference centre on Oct 30th.The forum is centered on the related labor economics and is themed with industrial restructuring, urbanization and rural labor employment in the period of China's 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015). Vice President of Renmin University of China Professor Lin Gang attended the forum, and awarded doctoral award certificates and prizes. Domestic experts and scholars such as Professor Zeng Xiangquan (Dean, School of Labor and Human Resources, RUC), Professor Wenhui(former president of Capital University of Economics, and professor Li Haizheng (Department of economics, Georgia Institute of Technology; Director of Chinese Human Capital and Economic Research Center, Central University of Finance and economics) and over 80 doctoral candidates from 32 Well-known universities and research institutes such as Renmin university, Beijing university, China Academy of Social Sciences school, Zhejiang university, Xiamen university, University of Nottingham attended this forum. The opening ceremony is hosted by doctor candidate Yuan Gang ,and graduate vice president professor Song Yuanfang made a welcome speech, congratulating the first “Chinese Labor Science Doctors’ Forum” and thinking highly of the significance of the forum. Doctor representative Yang Yumei introduced the overseas study experience and learning experience of doctoral period. Dean Zeng Xiangquan made a special report named “Strategic research on Chinese rural transfer of employment development”. The first prize winners of three majors, separately from human economics, human resource and labor relationship preached their awarded papers. During the forum, the participating leaders, experts and scholars took pictures for memory.
Professor Zeng Xiangquan talked about a recent research project on related topic of World Bank led by him. Based on the prediction of demand and supply of rural labor transfer and the evaluation of industrial structure change and urbanization efficiency, he pointed out three key changes that should be properly addressed when dealing with the rural labor transfer policy in the 12th Five Year Plan: the change from quantity-oriented to quantity-and-quality-balanced, the change from big-city-focused to small-town-focused, and the change from partial urbanization to entire urbanization. The focus in policy making should be on improving the quality of rural labor employment, promoting local transfer through both industrial upgrading and small town development, leading rural labors through citizenization among small towns, absorbing high-skilled surplus rural labors by upgrading industrial structure in big cities, releasing more rural labors by implementing proper land transfer system, and transforming some rural labors into citizens so as to progress from partial urbanization to entire urbanization.
The first-class award receivers, Sun Jingfang, Fang Fu and Su Yihui, presented their papers, The Influence of Non-farm Employment on Education Investment Incentives in Rural China, The Influence of Team Members’ Cognitive Style on Innovative Behaviors: Team’s Psychological Security and The Effects of Working Units’ Structure, Control and Resistance: Research on Employment Relationship between Employers and Domestic Workers, From the Perspective of Working Process. Special experts, Professor Zhao Zhong, Professor Guan Yanjun, and Professor Cheng Yanyuan made comments on first-class-award-winning papers covering labor economics, human resource management and labor relationship and the overall contribution.
Labor economics sub-forum and human resource management, social security and labor relationship sub-forum were held in the afternoon of 30th. The second-class award and merit award winners presented their papers. Doctor candidates actively participated in discussions after comments from special experts. The academic atmosphere at the sub-forum was lively and won praises from all participants.
The forum host indicated that the 2nd Doctorate Forum on China Labor Science will be held in 2012, featuring Human Resource Management. There will be national forum in the coming years, featuring Labor Relationship, Social Security and so on. National doctorate forums on labor science will promote communications among labor science doctor candidates, enhance development of labor science, and make great contribution to tackling the current employment problems and improving people’s livelihood in China. |
