“6th IZA/CIER Annual Workshop on Research in Labor Economics” organized by CIER of Renmin University of China and IZA was successfully held in IZA, Bonn, Germany during July 17, 2014 - July 19, 2014. Professor Zeng Xiangquan, Dean of School of Labor and Human Resources of RUC and Director of CIER, and Professor Klaus F. Zimmermann of University of Bonn and Director of IZA attended the workshop and addressed speeches introducing the background and the topics of the workshop.

The workshop was organized by CorradoGiulietti (IZA), Klaus F. Zimmermann (IZA), Zeng Xiangquan (RUC), and Zhao Zhong (RUC). The workshop focused on labor market issues in China, and covered seven topics, including the impact of minimum wages, migration and the urban/rural divide, labor force participation of the elderly and the minorities, impacts of public health insurance on consumption and transfer payment, informal employment and inequality in labor market, and college education and human capital investment. Scholars from IZA, Monash University, University of Virginia, Bowdoin College, University of Bologna, French Economic Theory and Analysis Institute, University of Gothenburg, Norwegian School of Economics, Geneva Institute for Advanced International Development Research, Capital University of Economics and Business, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, and Renmin University of China reported the latest research findings respectively.
Professor Zhao Zhong from School of Labor and Human Resources of RUC reported the scheme design, theoretical significance, practical significance, and progress of “Matching Data Tracking Survey of Chinese Employers and Employees” hosted and implemented by SLHR.
“CIER/IZA Annual Workshop on Research in Labor Economics” was established and organized by CIER, School of Labor and Human Resources of Renmin University of China, and IZA. The workshop was successfully held in Renmin University and IZA for 5 times from 2009 to 2013. As one of the founder of the workshop, CIER promoted researches on Chinese employment issues, raised the capability of international cooperation and international level of itself, and performed its academic influence in labor economy area through the workshop. |
