On June 9th, the second “Labor, Education and Development Forum” was held in Jingshi Building in Beijing Normal University. Professor Zeng Xiangquan, Dean of School of Labor and Human Resources of Renmin University and Director of CIER, made a speech entitled “Challenges and Solutions in Current Chinese Employment Market” as a keynote speaker. Professor Lai Desheng, Dean of School of Business and Economics of Beijing Normal University hosted the forum.
In the speech, Professor Zeng Xiangquan first analyzed uncertain factors in Chinese macro economy and international economic trends, including macroeconomic fluctuation, continuous industrial upgrading and reindustrialization implemented by western countries. He then pointed out three prominent issues in Chinese employment market: continuously relieved labor supply pressure with sustained concern on total employment volume; competency structure and regional structure contradictions with increasing complexity; high proportion of flexible employment with flat employment quality. In the end, he went into deep investigation of employment promotion policies on improving matching efficiency in labor market, promoting employment competency, increasing labor absorbing potential, etc.
Professor Li Shi, Director of Income Allocation Research Institute, made a few comments. Professor Zeng Xiangquan answered questions and exchanged ides with the audience. |
