The 4th CIER/IZA Annual Workshop on Research in Labor Economics was held in IZA, Bonn, Germany on July 20th-21st, which organized jointly by China Institute for Employment Research (CIER) at Renmin University of China (RUC) and Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA), Germany. Dean of School of Labor and Human Resources at RUC and Director of CIER, Professor Zeng Xiangquan, and Director of IZA, Professor of University Bonn, Dr. Klaus F. Zimmermann opened the workshop. The workshop was organized by Corrado Giulietti (IZA), Klaus F. Zimmermann (IZA), Zeng Xiang quan (RUC), Zhao Zhong (RUC), focusing on challenges and solutions of labor market in China as well as around world. The topics on China included China's labor market issues, rural-urban migration, education, wages, poverty in urban areas and medical insurance systems. Scholars from around the world, such as the IZA, World Bank, University of Bologna (Italy), University of Wageningen (Holland), CERGE-EI) (Czech), the RUC, Shanghai University of Economics and Finance, The Central University of Finance and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, shared their newest research results. Faculty members from our school, Zhao Zhong, Ge Huhao and Zhang Hao, presented their research papers on the labor market, poverty in urban area and health investment. CIER/IZA Annual Workshop on Research in Labor Economics was co-sponsored and hosted by School of Labor and Human Resources, the China Institute for Employment Research of RUC and Germany Institute for the Study of Labor. This workshop was held successfully three times: September of 2009 in RUC, October of 2010 in IZA and September of 2011 in RUC. School of Labor and Human Resources regards this workshop as an important platform to promote international cooperation and academic exchange. |
