On the afternoon of May 23th, 2011, Professor Jeanette C. Takamura, Dean of the school of Social Work, Columbia University and her senior assistant Cynthia C. Kong visited the schoool of Labor and Human Resources, Renmin University of China. Dean of the school of Labor and Human Resources Zeng Xiangquan, Director of the China Institute for Employment Research cordially met with the visitors at Room 442, Qiushi Building. The two sides extensively exchanged views about exchanging scholars, developing collaborative research, strengthening exchanges and some other affairs.

Dean Zeng firstly welcomed Professor Jeanette C. Takamura and her party and thanked their activeness in seeking cooperation with the school of Labor and Human Resources. He gave the visitors a brief introduction of our school and hoped to enhance mutual understanding after this visit. Professor Jeanette C. Takamura talked about the basic situation of the school of Social Work, Columbia University, mainly focused on the student education plans, research priorities, international exchange and distinctive projects, as well as the school's recent changes and future development. She particularly referred that Columbia University is now developing cooperation relations with many other famous universities all over the world. An office was just set up to promote the cooperation with the school of Labor and Human Resources, Renmin University and some other schools or universities alike. The two sides then discussed in detail exchanging scholars and developing collaborative research and signed a cooperation agreement to start the program as soon as possible.

The school of Social Work, Columbia University is one of the two social work schools among Ivy League. This visit and the agreement signed is a good reflection of the enhance of our internationalization and expansion of our social influence. Dean Assistant Professor Zhou Wenxia, Head of the department of Social Security Han Keqing, sub-secretary of the Communist Youth League Zhang Shilei and Foreign Secretary Chen Xiaorui attended the meeting.
